Happy Birthday Nicholas!

My eldest child turned 6 today. It feels like yesterday that we welcomed him into the world - very cliched I know. He had a great day and was very pleased with his presents. Money, Lego, Meccano, a worm farm, aqua sand, Operation game and a new bike. Thank you to all who sent him presents. He has many activities to keep him busy now. Tonight we dined at Hungry Jacks so that he could get his free birthday club meal. On the weekend he is having a party with 8 school friends at Krazy Maze and is so excited. Nicholas is really growing up and spoke so well on the phone today to all of our relatives and friends who phoned up.

Anzac Day

Nicholas was very taken with the idea and meaning of Anzac Day this year. We attended our first ever official Anzac service (other than school) on Saturday at the local park. Unfortunately we missed the march but could participate in the service by singing very heartily, the National Anthem. Nicholas and Penny are great patriots and enjoy singing Advance Australia Fair. A mustang plane did several low fly bys much to the children's delight.
In the afternoon the children attended a birthday party at a nearby playground which was lots of fun and ended with us feeding bread to ducks, geese, swans and turtles.

On Sunday, I went out scrapbooking with my club and did a couple of double page LO's that I had planned for the retreat. They just need the finishing touches added and then I'll put them up. When I came home from scrapping, Penny was off and pedaling on her little trike (instead of being pushed) and so Craig decided it was time for her to try the bigger bike which she also managed.
It was a lovely sunny afternoon. The days have become quite hot again but the nights are starting to cool right down. Here is a lovely photo of my beautiful Himalayan cat, Holly resting in a plant pot.

Great Holidays

After our quiet Easter weekend, the week revved up somewhat. We set off in the pouring rain on Easter Monday, towing our big boat, headed for Agnes Waters. We went to stay with our good friends, Joanne and Bruce and their children in their gorgeous house at Agnes. The weather cleared enough for us to have a play on the beach although beach cricket was a little challenging in the strong wind with a plastic ball! We had a thoroughly relaxing time. We returned on Wednesday in time for me to go to work on Thursday.
Nick and Craig had a couple of good boys days. The went out in the little boat on the river and caught prawns and mud crabs. The went to the movies to see Monsters vs Aliens and also fit in a play at Krazy Maze. Today they caught up with Grandma whilst Craig and I attended a school race day at the local race track. It was a great day with all dressing up to the nines in their pretty dresses and gorgeous hats/fascinators.
Here are the last 2 LO's from the retreat. I really was scrapped out as I haven't scrapped in 2 weeks!!

Happy Easter To All

I hope that you're enjoying a happy Easter and that the Easter bunny remembered you. We had an Easter egg hunt in the backyard at 6.30am followed by a scrumptious chocolate breakfast. Not much else is planned for the day as Craig is playing golf again today.
I spent the afternoon yesterday cleaning up and reorganising my scrapbooking room. I wish I'd taken a before picture because it was in such a mess but the room is unrecognisable now.
Here are some more of the LO's I completed at the retreat last weekend.

Easter Hat Parade

Nicholas had his Easter hat parade at school yesterday. We made his hat on Tuesday after school. He had specifically requested a rabbit which we could stick cotton wool on and so that is what we did. I was able to have an early lunch hour from work and was able to see Nick parading his hat and reciting a poem with the rest of the year 1's. Easter bunny also turned up at the end and filled Nick's Easter basket with some small eggs. I have been involved with the parade by selling raffle tickets before school and helping to wrap nearly 100 raffle prizes.
Penny has been making lots of Easter things at daycare as well. Easter bunny visited and left eggs in their baskets whilst they were sleeping. This poor Easter bunny is going to be very tired by Sunday!!!!

Great Weekend

I attended my annual scrapbooking retreat on the weekend. I had a great time as usual thanks to our organisers, Cassie and Petrina. The company was great and the food to die for. We had the same cook, Pamela as last year and her home cooking tastes delicious. She really spoils us - pancakes with maple syrup and ice cream for breakfast! I achieved 8 LO's which equalled last year's quota but I was happy with this. I even left a little early on Sunday afternoon as I was all scrapped out. I was surprised at this but I'd had a pretty big week prior with Craig being away and so was absolutely pooped by Sunday. So much so that I achieved very little on Monday as I felt so worn out. Here are some of the LO's I did. More to follow. This week has been busy making Easter things. Nick has made an Easter hat for his parade tomorrow and we have made little Easter bags for teacher's presents. Easter will be a quiet affair for us which we're all looking forward to after the long first term.
Also, a big happy birthday to my MUM!! Have a great day Mum.
